Soooooo, we arrived in Hanoi and got picked up from the airport from the free airport shuttle to go to our free hostel – although we looked at some of the reviews and were nooooooot impressed – one said that it was “a place/tour for older men to take their very much younger women escorts” also there was no one else at the hostel booked in for the night so warning bells alarmed! Luckily, the Vietnam Backpackers Hostel that we had stayed at whilst in Hoi An had an advertisement video for their original Castaways tour so we booked onto that and stayed at the Downtown Hostel! Saved by the bell I reckon – and we had a double bunk bed! 😌 in our room, we met a lovely girl called Tilly and spent the evening with her, she was off on the Sapa trip run by the hostel so I was a lil jealous of that! I mean I wanted to get as much knowledge on culture whilst here and drink too so I guess both can’t happen at the same time or all the time! But nonetheless I’m BUZZING FOR CASTAWAYS!!
We arrived by a 2 hour coach journey, hour boat ride getting absolutely bloody drenched as I was sat next to the door acting as a human umbrella for half of the boat (it didn’t last long – soz guys), a 40 minute coach round Cat Ba Island and through the mountainous nature reserve (absolute 10/10 – so so beautiful!) and then onto the beginning of the booze part of the trip onto the booze cruise! Met our guide and did a beer shotgun – I failed miserably & dribbled everywhere 😩😅😂 We met a couple, Robbie & Nikki and a few other people, had lunch and checked into our rooms after hearing about the rules ect. Whilst on castaways – you can not say the word TEN or MINE, results in you having to do 10 push ups….. HA. I managed to screw everyone and get them to say it loads 🤗😂 By 2 I was absolutely gazebo-ed!
The next day we were on the booze cruise part, involving more rules!! No drinking from our right hand – results in BUFFALO and finishing your drink and you’re also not allowed to have empty hands as it is a booze cruise therefore you must be drinkin alllllll day! One of the stops was jumping into the sea and kayaking around – amazingly we saw a really rare species of monkey (I was too drunk to remember the name😭😭) where there are only 17 known mating pairs in the entire world!! 😱🐒played some drinking games and returned back to the island.
Again, the rest is a drunken blur so I have no idea what happened for the rest of the day 😅😂 although I do know how much of a hangover I had the next day, holy bloody moly. Could be up there with the worlds worst hangovers and the worst day of my life, involving sitting on a boat, coach, boat and then coach again 🤢 We arrived back at the hostel, collected our bags and made our hungover sorry-selves to Old Quarter View Hanoi Hostel. Absolute 10/10!! I’m such a good planner of trips I’ve managed to have us properly lucked out on all of the places we have stayed and the things we have done!! After the last 3 days it’s time for sleep 😴😴😴😴😴😴
